Former Spain and Barcelona midfielder Josep Guardiola has decided to hang up his boots at the age of 35.
“Although in my head I still want to play my body has said enough is enough,” Guardiola told radio station RAC-1.
Guardiola won six Primera Liga titles, the European Cup in 1992 and the Cup Winners’s Cup in 1997 while with Barca.
He left Barcelona in 2001 and had spells with Brescia and Roma, though his time in Italy was overshadowed by a ban after he tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone.
Latterly he had played in Qatar and Mexico.
