Vitoria Guimaraes have sacked coach Augusto Inacio after the 1-0 weekend defeat by Rio Ave left them hovering close to the relegation zone.

Chairman Antonio Pimenta Machado confirmed the news today, saying:

“Inacio is no longer our coach, we reached an agreement by mutual consent,’ confirmed club chairman Antonio Pimenta Machado

‘I am trying my best to find another option – it has not been an easy task so far.”

Inacio was appointed by Guimaraes in February 2001. He helped Guimaraes avoid relegation in 2001-02, before leading them to tenth and fourth in the last two seasons.
