England and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves is considering an offer from Manchester United.

“The offer from United is fantastic,” Hargreaves told German magazine Sport Bild.

“Particularly as an England international, it’s of interest and you never know if such an opportunity will arise again,” said the 25-year-old.

“Now is the time to take the next step to develop even further.”

Hargreaves was a member of the England World Cup squad and was one of the few players to emerge from the tournament with his reputation enhanced.

He is set to start for England against Greece in a friendly at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich reiterated that they had no intention of selling Hargreaves.

“Hargreaves is not a subject of discussion,” said Bayern manager Uli Hoeness.

“Owen has a contract until 2010 and he will complete it. That means the issue is closed.”

Bayern coach Felix Magath echoed the thoughts of Hoeness.

“I am not planning to get rid of any players, particularly not Hargreaves – it has never been an issue,” he said.
