Bayern Munich are to offer midfielder Owen Hargreaves a new deal.
Rummenigge praised Hargreaves’ contribution to Bayern’s impressive start to the season.
“Owen Hargreaves has changed a lot in a very positive direction. His game is much more effective now and he has become a vital member of the team,” Rummenigge told Sportbild.
The England international midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premiership, but he has recently established himself as a regular in Felix Magath’s line-up and looks set to be rewarded with a new improved deal.
“We are very happy with him and would like him to stay with us,” added Rummenigge.
“We’ve had initial talks with his advisor and we aim to agree on a long-term contract extension over the next few weeks.”
