Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has revealed that he received an offer to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Claudio Ranieri’s position in charge has been the subject of speculation since Roman Abramovich bought the club last summer, but Hitzfeld is the first to admit he has been approached about taking charge.

“Yes, I have received an offer from Chelsea,” HitzfeldÊtold ÊSportbild.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has a deal with Bayern which runs until 2005 and despite the offer from Chelsea, he is deterined to see out his contract.

“I will fulfil my contract at Bayern until 2005,” insisted Hitzfeld.
