Alexander Hleb’s agent insists Barcelona do want to cash sell the Belarus international this summer, and claims his client is determined to stay at the club despite limited first team opportunities at Camp Nou.

The former Arsenal midfielder has failed to hold down a regular place since his move to Barcelona last summer and it has been suggested the 27-year-old could depart after just one season in Spain.

However, Helb’s agent Uli Ferber believes his client is liked by manager Josep Guardiola and the club are not looking to sell the player.

“Barcelona have no intention of losing a player like that,” Ferber told calciomercato.it said when quizzed on Hleb’s long-term future.

“During Hleb’s six months at Camp Nou Barcelona are convinced of his quality and will give him time to prove himself.

“He is happy in Barcelona. He likes everything from the team to the city.

“Of course he’s not very pleased that he’s not playing much, but he wants to fight for a first-team place.

“Also we’re talking about the best team in the world with great players in every position. Alexander has great respect for his team-mates.”
