Internazionale striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed he has been carrying a knee injury for the past few weeks.

The Swedish international claims he has a hole in his knee tendon and he is set to miss Wednesday’s clash with Roma so that he can rest the injury.

“I have a hole in my tendon,” Ibrahimovic told Corriere Dello Sport. “It has been hurting for a long time and I don’t know when it will heal.

“I didn’t want to say anything because I have just been thinking about winning with this team, but now I realise that I am taking a big risk and so I am resting.”

Ibrahimovic also denied reports of bust-up with team-mate Marco Materazzi after last week’s Champions league loss to Liverpool.

The former Ajax striker was reported to have blamed Materazzi for Inter’s 2-0 defeat at Anfield. The defender was sent-off after receiving two yellow cards during the first-half of Tuesday’s game, but Ibrahimovic claims he did not even see the incidents.

“I didn’t have it in for Materazzi at Anfield,” added Ibrahimovic. “I didn’t see the fouls.

“Marco told me that they weren’t bookings and I believe him – it was the referee’s fault. In any case, we can overturn the deficit.”
