Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery is set to be out of action for three weeks after suffering a thigh injury.

The Frenchman was forced to miss the second half of Bayern’s 2-1 win over Rostock due to the injury, but still travelled to join his international team-mates ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Spain.

However, the injury has turned out to be more serious than first thought and Ribery will now return to Munich for treatment.

“He will be out of action for at least three weeks,” France coach Raymond Domenech told L’Equipe.

The news is a blow for Bayern as Ribery will now miss Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Werder Bremen, as well as next week’s Uefa Cup trip to Aberdeen.
