President Massimo Moratti is confident that on-loan striker Hernan Crespo will stay at Internazionale next season.

Chelsea allowed Crespo to join Inter for free last season but on the condition that he could be recalled to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Premiership side have until the end of the month to decide if they want Crespo back, but Moratti is confident the Argentine striker will remain in Italy.

“I think Crespo will stay,” Moratti told Corriere dello Sport.

“Inter to send Chelsea the player back, maybe not. There are negotiations to take place but I think Crespo will stay.”

Meanwhile, Crespo remains cautiously optimistic that he will remain an Inter player.

“I don’t want to talk too much about the situation with Chelsea,” he told Che.

“I am on loan at Inter, but I belong to Chelsea. It all depends on a fax that has to be sent from England to Inter before 31st May.

“And if they don’t send it, that’s better.”
