Israel’s EURO 2004 qualifying against Cyprus on October 16 has been postponed until next April.

The match, which was to have been staged in due Romania because of the security situation in the Middle East, will be played on April 30, 2003 – a decision warmly welcomed by the Israeli FA.

“The Israel Football Association has greeted the decision with great satisfaction and thanks UEFA for taking a decision which is a victory for sport,” the Israeli FA said in a statement.

UEFA ordered Israeli clubs playing in European competition and the national team to play home matches at neutral venues until the security situation improves.
