The two protagonists in Serie A’s title race both won again this weekend.

Roma recovered from their tepid midweek display at Old Trafford to beat Udinese 3-1 at the Stadio Friuli on Saturday night. Italian international Di Natale gave the home side the lead, but Roma equalised through Montenegran forward Mirko Vucinic, before wingers Taddei and Giuly netted.

On Sunday, Internazionale recorded an impressive 2-0 win over 4th-place Fiorentina at the Guissepe Meazza stadium, courtesy of goals from Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso and the teenage striker Marco Balotelli. The situation remains unchanged at the top, with Inter still four points clear of Roma.

Milan went down 3-2 at Juventus in Turin and thus failed to close the gap on Fiorentina in the race for 4th place.

Bosnian winger Hassan Salihamidzic scored the winner for Juventus in the 80th minute. A brace from former Juve favourite Pipo Inzaghi had given Milan a 2-1 lead, but the visitors had full-back Bonera sent off in the 66th minute and they eventually succumbed in the second half. After a disappointing campaign in both domestic and European competitions, Milan will be looking to substantially revamp their squad in the Summer. It is looking increasingly likely that the Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho will be joining Milan at the end of the season, and the club are also, somewhat surprisingly, looking to re-sign Andrei Shevchenko in a move that will surely mean an exit for at least one from Inzaghi, Gilardino, Ronaldo and Ricardo Oliveira.

At the bottom of the table, there was a big win for Reggina, 1-0 winners at home to Sampdoria, and now just 1 point behind 17th-place Parma, who could only manage a 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Empoli.

Italian playmaker Sebastian Giovinco, an exciting prospect currently on loan from Juventus, hit a 30th-minute equaliser after Lucarelli had given Parma an early lead. Genoa’s impressive form continued with a 3-0 win over Torino at the Luigi Ferraris stadium. A brace from Italian striker Roberto Acquafresca earned Cagliari a 2-1 win at Livorno and three precious points in their battle against relegation.
