Internazionale held their nerve to seal the Scudetto with a 2-0 win at Parma, courtesy of a second-half brace from substitute Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swedish striker came off the bench and scored twice in four minutes to settle a nervy contest at Ennio Tardini. Roma, who needed to win and hope for Inter to slip up, only managed a 1-1 draw at Catania. A Vucinic goal was cancelled out with five minutes to go by Martinez.
Milan will be playing in the UEFA Cup next season after missing out on a top four place. They came back from behind to demolish Udinese 4-1 at San Siro, with goals from Pato and veteran trio Cafu, Inzaghi and Seedorf. However, Fiorentina sealed fourth place after Brazilian forward Osvaldo got the only goal of the game in their encounter with Torino at Delle Alpi.
Sampdoria and Juventus shared the points in a six-goal thriller in Genoa. Juventus finish third, while Sampdoria will join Milan and Udinese in the UEFA Cup.
At the bottom, Empoli are relegated despite a 2-1 final day win over Livorno. Catania’s draw against Roma gave them the point they needed to stay up, so it is Parma who will join Empoli and Livorno in Serie B next season.
