Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will miss the rest of the Premier League season after sustaining a back injury.
The news is a huge setback to a Bolton side battling to avoid relegation. The Trotters lie third from bottom of the Premier League with just nine games remaining.
“He needs six weeks of rest to try and resolve his problem and he is also going to need some form of surgery,” Bolton manager Gary Megson told the club’s Web site.
“Either way his season is over.”
The 32-year-old Finn turned down a new contract at the start of the season.
