Juventus have signed Luca Toni from Genoa, the club said in a statement on Friday.

A note on their official website read: “Juventus Football Club communicates to have reached an agreement with Genoa CFC for the complete transfer of Luca Toni on a free deal.

“The player has signed an economic contract that will tie him to the club until June 30, 2012.”

Toni, 33, leaves Genoa having made 16 apperances for and scored 3 goals.

He is expected to take the place of Fabio Quagliarella, who is expected to be out for the remainder of the season after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Thursday’s 1-4 home defeat to Parma.
