Pompey, who sit just one place off the drop-zone, face a tricky home tie against Everton in the Premier League this Saturday lunchtime.

Bayern Munich have confirmed that striker Miroslav Klose is facing up to eight weeks out of action after undergoing surgery on his ankle injury.

The news is a blow to Bayern as the Germany international has now been ruled out of both legs of Bayern’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness told Sueddeutsche: “He is going to have an operation this afternoon and what does that mean? Well, that he will be out for six to eight weeks.”

Klose will also miss Germany’s forthcoming World Cup 2010 qualifiers with Liechtenstein and Wales.
