Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson admits he is considering retirement after discovering the extent of his knee injury.

The Sweden international tore the anterior ligament in his left knee during Barca’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid on Saturday.

The news means the former Feyenoord and Celtic marksman will need at least six months on the sidelines and is unlikely to play again before the end of the season.

“I can’t say if I will continue or quit before I have all the cards on the table,” Larsson told Helsingborg Dagblad.

“Right now everything is just so grim and tiring.

“There are a lot of thoughts moving through my head. I had really hoped it would not be so serious.”
