West Ham have agreed an undisclosed fee with Leeds for wantaway midfielder Lee Bowyer.

The controversial midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and would have been able to walk away from Elland Road on a free transfer. However, Bowyer, who last week rejected a loan switch to Birmingham, will now discuss personal terms with the London club.

Bottom of the table West Ham are expected to take Bowyer on loan until the end of the season as they seek to essape the threat of relegation.

A statement on the Leeds website, said: ‘Leeds United and Lee have agreed a schedule for the repayment of his outstanding legal fees. Lee will be having contract talks with West Ham later today.’

‘Lee Bowyer has told Leeds United he will not sign the contract currently on offer to him at Leeds and would therefore be leaving the club this summer.’
