Ghent coach Georges Leekens has dismissed speculation linking him with Portsmouth.

The former Belgium manager has been named as a possible successor to Harry Redknapp, who stepped down at Fratton Park last week.

Leekens denies there has been no approach, although he amdmits that he would one day like to manage in England.

“It is a rumour,” he told HLN.

“I work for Ghent and do that with pleasure.

“Any coach in Europe would want to try The Premiership.

“I would be honoured to be involved at Portsmouth but I have not had contact with Milan Mandaric, although I know he is an ambitious man.”
