Borussia Monchengladbach are ready to offer Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann a return to the Bundesliga.

The German international stopper been dropped by Arsene Wenger and it appears that Lehmann could be set for a prolonged spell on the bench.

Given Lehmann’s desire to represent his country at the 2006 World Cup finals, the 35-year-old is desperate for first-team football and may be prepared to return to his homeland even if that means accepting a significant wage cut.

Borussia director of football Christian Hochstatter admits the club could well make an offer during the transfer window.

“Normally, such a transfer would be difficult to achieve, but if Jens sits on the bench for much longer, then who knows what happens?” he stated.

“When somebody like Lehmann becomes available then you’ve certainly got to consider it.”
