Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann says he would like extend his stay at Arsenal for another year.

The 36-year-old’s current deal with The Gunners expires at the end of the season, but Lehmann says he has no intention of leaving the club.

“Playing for any other team would be a step backwards compared to the Arsenal team I’m in at the moment,” Lehmann told Bild.

“Other clubs may be more successful, but I don’t know of any that play more attractive football.

“I would like to spend another year here, but I also know that Arsenal wouldn’t hesitate to sign any other goalkeeper that they thought better than me;” he added.

Lehmann, however, refused to rule out the possibility of a return to the Bundesliga.

“The Bundesliga is still of interest to me,” added Lehmann.

“When my wife Conny and I returned to England after the World Cup we both said that it would be nice to go back to Germany.

“The grounds and the atmosphere there are great, but I’m not prepared to make any statements on specific clubs.”
