Liverpool have appointed Tom Werner to replace Martin Broughton as the club’s chairman.
Werner is also the chairman of Boston Red Sox owners New England Sports Ventures, who bought Liverpool for £300 million last month.
Broughton, who brokered the deal with NESV despite fierce opposition from the club’s previous American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr., will stand down from his interim position on Tuesday.
Werner pledged “to work tirelessly for our supporters and deliver the best conditions for a winning team and silverware in the trophy room.”
NESV principal John Henry says it has been “a pleasure” working with Broughton.
