Liverpool are studying the French corruption investigation into their £14 million signing of Djibril Cisse from Auxerre in 2004.

Eight French clubs were raided last week as part of an investigation into alleged embezzlement of transfer fees.

One of the deals under scrutiny is Cisse’s move from Auxerre to Anfield 18 months ago.

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry says the Anfield club are eager to hear of any wrongdoing.

“We have been alerted to the investigation and want to become a party to it,” said Parry.

“It is prudent for us to know exactly what is happening.

“We want to ensure our position is protected and be kept informed if we have been victims here. If there has been any wrongdoing, we want to know about it.”
