Liverpool are refusing to comment on reports that skipper Steven Gerrard is on his way to Real Madrid.

According to Spanish newspaper As, Gerrard, will be the latest to join the Galacticos at the Bernabeu.

However, with Real signing Uruguay midfielder Pablo Garcia, who plays a similar role to Gerrard, there are doubts as to the veracity of the reports.

The report in As claims that Gerrard will only move abroad if he quits Liverpool, and with former team mate Michael Owen as well as compatriots David Beckham and Jonathan Woodgate already at the Bernabeu, the appeal of a move to Madrid becomes apparent.

Madrid have brought in a high-profile name for the last five years and As says that they have designated Gerrard as this summer’s big move.
