Real Madrid acting coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro is to stay until the end of the season, the club have confirmed.

“I’d like to thank the club for putting its faith in me,” said Lopez Caro.

“This news fills me with satisfaction. Real are a great club and has a team of great footballers who are all interested in making progress and raising the level of the team,” he added.

Lopez Caro took charge following the sacking of Brazilian Wanderley Luxemburgo earlier this month.

Real were held 1-1 at home on Sunday by 10-man Osasuna to remain in third spot in the table behind Osasuna and leaders Barcelona.

After Sunday’s match Lopez Caro admitted that “there is much to improve”.
