The Italian Football League’s disciplinary commission has handed Chievo’s Brazilian winger Luciano Siqueira a seven month ban after he admitted to playing under an assumed identity – Eriberto.

“I’m really happy that everything is finished, especially for my wife,” said a relieved Luciano after the hearing. He had feared a more severe sentence, especially as a federal prosecutor had called for a two-year ban.

“I explained everything that happened and I think they understand the motives that led me to changing my identity. I don’t want to think about this story anymore – I just want to concentrate on my return.”

Luciano changed his identityÿas a youngster at Palmeiras in Brazil, the club he left for Bologna on loan two seasons ago.

Luciano was also fined _150,000 while both clubs implicated in the scandal, Bologna and Chievo, have each been fined _75,000.
