New Spanish hope Albert Luque is likely to remain for another season with Mallorca.

New Supercup winners Deportivo de La Coruna have been trying all summer to prise the attacking midfielder away from Mallorca and he has also been linked with Atletico Madrid.

Finally, after Deportivo and Mallorca agreed terms, Luque and his father who is also his agent rejected the Coruna club’s offer.

Deportivo had expected to transfer reserve striker Turu Flores to Mallorca in part-exchange and that sale will still go ahead.

Within Spanish football, Depor remain at the centre of speculation concerning pre-transfer deadline offers for Internazionale’s unsettled Ronaldo and Real Madrid’s Fernando Morientes.

Meanwhile, Madrid have loaned Brazilian winger Savio to Bordeaux for the coming season. Savio has a French wife.
