Aston Villa are now BP 2-1 to finish in the top four of the Premiership after their disappointing 2-1 defeat at home to Spurs.

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas has admitted that his club re tempted to make a summer move for Juventus striker David Trezeguet.

Experienced striker Trezeguet is reportedly unsettled in Turin and Lyon have been long-term admirers of the former French international forward.

Aulas, though, has pointed out that Lyon already boast talented forward Karim Benzema, who recently stated that he plans to stay at Stade Gerland for one more season.

“We wanted him two-and-a-half years ago,” Aulas told Tuttosport.

“That is no secret, even if at the end of the day nothing came of it. Could we bring Trezeguet to Lyon now?

“I haven’t spoken to our coach about it, nor to Juve, but we do like the player. He is an extraordinary marksman, but we have Benzema…”
