Lyon coach Alain Perrin has admitted he is interested in signing Nicolas Anelka and Louis Saha.

Saha’s future at Manchester United is in doubt if, as expected, Carlos Tevez joins the club.

Perrin is on the lookout for a new forward as Fred is still out injured, and he would like to bring in either Anelka or Saha.

He told L’Equipe: “The fact that Fred hasn’t come back yet is not really a problem. The problem is we are not able to know exactly his situation.

“It would be worrying if we discover he finally needs surgery.

“We need an additional forward. Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has asked for information about Anelka, but it seems complex on a financial level.

“Moreover the player is not enthusiastic about joining us.

“Saha? We could be interested too. But we have to know what we can do.”

Perrin expects Sylvain Wiltord to join Rennes, although he would be sad to see the striker go.

Perrin explained: “He is on his way. Things are improving with Rennes.

“He doesn’t represent the future of the club, but he is here and knows the club well. We could regret to see him leaving.”
