Greek international striker Nikos Machlas has been arrested for committing traffic offences and resisting arrest in Spain.

Machlas, who is currently on loan at Sevilla from Ajax, was allegedly caught in a traffic jam and proceeded to pull his car into a lane of oncoming traffic at high speed, causing a risk to both himself and other motorists.

A police statement said he was “insulting” and “injured police officers” when stopped.

Machlas has only made one start for Sevilla since joining them on loan in January.
