Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele will miss this week’s Champions League semi-final, second leg against Juventus, while injured striker Ronaldo is rated extremely doubtful.

“Makelele is definitely out for the Juventus game and will be unable to play for two weeks,” club doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez told Radio Marca on Monday.

The French international pulled a muscle in his thigh in Saturday’s goalless draw at Recreativo Huelva in the league.

Ronaldo’s chances of playing were remote according to chief ofmedical staff Alfonso del Corral.

“We are doing all we can to get the player ready and there is still a little time left,” he said.

“But the truth is that I think it will be almost impossible.”

There was some good news for Real with midfielders Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo fit to play after suffering minor knocks, while striker Raul is set to start after recovering from his appendix operation.

“If nothing out of the ordinary happens they should all be able to play,” said Del Corral.

“But to be certain we will have to see how they react after training on Monday.”
