Milan captain Paolo Maldini has dismissed talk of him retiring after the Club World Cup in Japan.

Reports hae claimed that Maldini was considering callling time on his career as he struggles to shake off persistent problems with both of his knees.

However, the former Italy defender has rubbished the rumours and vowed to see out his contract with the Rossoneri.

“I still have a contract with Milan until June of 2008 and I am prepared to strictly follow it,” said Maldini.

“I am in such good condition and I don’t intend to give up the contract before it expires.”

Maldini has won seven Serie-A titles, five Champions League crowns and two Intercontinental Cups since joining Milan in 1985 He returned to play last month after surgery.
