Manchester United made a sensational world record bid for Brazilian superstar Neymar last summer, according to the player’s father.

However in an interview with Spanish radio station COPE, he said:
“Manchester United is the side that offered £140m for Neymar,
“He still has two years left on his contract but you can all be calm as my son is so happy here.”
Neymar’s father was in court over the forward’s controversial fee when he signed for Barcelona in 2013. The company owned 40 per cent of the player’s sports rights.
The prosecution are investigating fraudulent activity alledgedly made by Neymar senior during the transfer process from Santos to Barcelona:
“Between 2006 and 2013, the player’s father was the principal mentor and mastermind of a series of contractual frauds involving Neymar’s image rights, mainly through Neymar Sport e Marketing,” the statement said.
Both father and son deny any wrongdoing.
