Monaco defender Rafael Marquez has rejected the chance of a move to Italy, in favour of a switch Spain’s Primera Liga.

The Mexican international had been linked with both Juventus and Milan but Marquez admmits he would prefer to move to Spain.

‘It is my dream to play in Spain and I know that Deportivo La Coruna and Barcelona are interested in me,’ Marquez said.

‘They are two great clubs.

‘If I have to stay at Monaco for the rest of the season thenI will but I don’t really want that to happen. And Coach Didier Deschamps knows this.

‘I hope that my future can be ironed out in the next month,’ the 23-year-old added.
