Celtic keeper David Marshall, who produced an outstanding performance to keep a clean sheet in last night’s UEFA cup tie against Barcelona, has been rewarded with a new four-year contract by the club.

The 19-year-old was called up when first-choice Rab Douglas was sent off at half-time of the first leg against Barcelona.

O’Neill revealed that after last night’s game Marshall received a standing ovation from his team-mates.

Striker Henrik Larsson said of the stopper : “I think he is too young to have any nerves – he doesn’t realise how big it was.

‘He was tremendous from the first minute of the game onwards.”
