Valencia have moved to tie down winger Juan Mata by extending his contract to 2014.
The 22-year-old began his career at Real Madrid before moving on to the Mestalla where he has developed into a Spanish international.
Valencia’s financial woes have led to Mata being linked with lucrative a move away from the club.
But they have moved to put an end to the speculation by offering him a long-term deal which he is expected to sign later this month.
