Francisco Maturana, Colombia’s coach at two World Cups in 1990 and 1994, has again been appointed to coach the national side.

Maturana was named by the Colombian football federation named lead the team in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers and to defend their Copa Americatitle in the 2004 tournament.

53-year-old Maturana led Colombia to the second round in 1990 but also presided over his country’s dismal performance in the United States in 1994, when Colombia failed to get beyond the group stages.
