Gary Megson has confirmed that he will not seek to renew his contract with West Brom when it expires in the summer.

“I’ve a contract until 30 June and I intend to carry on until then. I’ll give all the effort and drive I can to succeed on behalf of the club.”

Megson, who has been in charge since March 2000, added: “If training is not good enough, if the results don’t go the right way I will continue to be upset about it.

“I don’t intend to talk any more about the decision I have made.”

Megson has been under pressure following the club’s poor start to the season, with fans calling for him to quit since Saturday’s embarrassing 3-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Crystal Palace.

Megson admitted he had been concerned by the lack of effort shown by his players in training in the build-up to the game.
