Felipe Melo has ended speculation about his future by signing a one-year contract extension at Fiorentina.

The 25-year-old Brazil international had been linked with a move to Arsenal, but is now tied to the Serie A outfit until June 2013.

Melo joined the Viola last summer from Spanish side Almeria in a transfer deal worth €8million.

“Fiorentina announces that its sporting director Pantaleo Corvino met in Milan with Felipe Melo’s agent and an agreement was reached to extend the player’s contract until 2013 with a buy-out clause also included,” read a statement from the club.
