Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has admitted he would relish the chance to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

The European champions have been strongly linked with the Manchester United winger in recent weeks, and Messi is the latest Barca player to express his admiration for Ronaldo.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is an extraordinary player and it would be brilliant to be in the same team as him,” the Argentinian told Record magazine.

“I do not know if that will happen one day, but I would like it to as he is spectacular.”

Despite not being a regular in Frank Rijkaard’s side, the 19-year-old has set his sights on becoming a legend for Argentina.

“One day I would like to be adored by the people in Argentina like Maradona is,” Messi said.

Meanwhile, when asked about his opinion of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, Messi replied: “I cannot say many good things about him.”
