Barcelona are confident that surgery performed on Lionel Messi’s toe has been a success.
The Argentina international broke his toe in Barca’s 3-1 win over Real Zaragoza on Sunday.
Barcelona club doctor Antoni Dalmau is expecting Messi to be out of action for at least three months.
“The operation went well,” said Dalmau. “There were no problems.
“We cleaned up the area around the blow and stabilised the bone with a screw.
“It depends on the player’s progress as to how quickly he’s back playing.
“I’d insist that to be on the safe side we are talking about at least three months.”
