Brazilian World Cup winner Ricardinho has moved to Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old, cancelled his contract with Sao Paulo in January and was expected to move to a European club.
Ricardinho, who has won 10 caps for his country, will join compatriots Juninho and Doriva at the Riverside Stadium.
