Former Real Madrid striker Predrag Mijatovic has decided to hang up his boots.

The Serbo-Montenegrin international said it was time to dedicate more time to his family.

“Physically I feel fine, but I have no need to carry on playing,” said Mijatovic.

“The time has come to enjoy family life.

“It is over and it is the right time to quit.”

Mijatovice revealed he had turned down lucrative offers from the Middle East to retire from the game.

“I thought about going to Qatar and playing alongside the likes of Gabriel Batistuta and Stefan Effenberg, but I decided to devote more time to my family and myself instead,” he added.

The highlight of his playing career came in 1998 when he scored the only goal of the game as Real Madrid beat Juventus to win the Champions League for the first time in 32 years.
