Milan have suffered a double injury blow with the news that both Jaap Stam and Filippo Inzaghi are facing surgery.

The Dutch defender has been troubled with an ankle injury since his arrival at Milan in the summer, while Inzaghi has been suffering with an ankle injury despite undergoing surgery earlier in the year.

Stam underwent tests on the injury on Wednesday and the club have decided an operation represents his best chance of a full recovery.

Inzaghi has appeared in five matches for Milan, but tests on his ankle have shown that he requires further surgery.

Both players are expected to be out for two months.
