Wolfsburg managing director Juergen Marbach has claimed the club will tell Milan that striker Edin Dzeko is not for sale.

Dzeko has been linked with a move away from Wolfsburg after his impressive goalscoring form caught the eye last season.

Milan, Manchester City and Arsenal have all been mooted as potential destinations, but with the Bosnia international claiming to be a supporter of Milan, and the Serie’ A’s vice-president Adriano Galliani alleging he met with the player’s father on Saturday night, the Italian outfit appear to be the frontrunners in the race to sign Dzeko.

But Wolfsburg look set to fend off overtures from abroad, as they look to retain Dzeko’s services for the 2009-10 season.

“We will reply today that we are not interested,” said Marbach. “We don’t want to give up the player. He is not for sale.”
