Barcelona midfielder Rafael Marquez will miss this week’s trip to Chelsea through injury, but Ludovic Giuly has made a surprise return to fitness.

Marquez picked up the knock in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Osasuna. That win, secured by an Eto’o goal, stretched Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table to eight points as second-placed Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw away to Valencia

Better news for Barca came with the inclusion of Giuly in the 18-man squad for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

The French international has been struggling with a back problem and was not expected to travel for Tuesday’s return game with the Premier League leaders.
