Monaco have offered coach Didier Deschamps an improved contract after he guided the Ligue 1 team into their first Champions League final.

“The management of Monaco has offered to extend Didier Deschamps’ contract,” club president Pierre Svara told sports daily L’Equipe after Monaco’s semi-final defeat of Chelsea.

“We are in negotiations. He was pleased and said he was enjoying his time at Monaco. The extension will be from one to three years.”

Deschamps’ current contract is due to expire at the end of next season.

Monaco drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to secure a 5-3 win on aggregate.
