Italy striker Vincenzo Montella has been ruled out of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland after suffering a sprained ankle, the Italian Football Federation has announced.
The Roma player, who has been in prolific form this season with 19 Serie A goals, picked up the knock during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat by Milan.
In Montella’s absence, his Roma colleague Antonio Cassano could start up front alongside in-form Alberto Gilardino.
