Barcelona vice president Sandro Rosell has hinted that there could be more big name players lined up to join the Catalan club during the January transfer window.

Edgar Davids arrived at the Nou Camp last week on a six-month loan but Rosell revealed that there could be more to come if one of the current squad can be offloaded.

He said: “It’s a matter which is not closed, but nobody will come in unless somebody leaves.

“We currently have a squad that we like.”

Rosell also claimed that signing Turkish international number one Rustu Recber was not a bad decision despite coach Frank Rijkard now regarding him as third choice keeper at Barcelona. He argued that although Rustu’s performances had been poor since his summer switch it did not matter as he had joined on a free transfer.

“Everything in life is relative. If Rustu had cost €36m then you could say that it was a bad decision.”
