Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has confirmed that the club is still waiting for permission to sign Adrian Mutu.

The Romanian, who was sacked by Chelsea after failing a drugs test, has initially signed for Livorno because Juventus do not have a free place for an extra non-EU player.

However, Moggi has admittted that the English FA has yet to sanction the sale.

”The transfer is yet to arrive from the English federation to Livorno,” confirmed Moggi.

”It is the last step that will allow us to close the thing.

”Livorno have signed him and will give him to us when the transfer arrives.

”We owe nothing to them (Chelsea). It’s a player’s problem, whilst between us and Mutu there is a well defined agreement.

”I have followed Adrian a long time, since he was a player with Verona.

”Now we have the right occasion and we haven’t missed it because Mutu is a player who belongs in the category of champions.”
