Former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu apologized for his positive cocaine test and said he will turn down an offer to become an assistant coach for the Romanian national team.

Mutu, who landed seven-month ban as a result of failing a drug test, said he hopes to become an example for youngsters.

“I came here to ask for forgiveness and to tell all the people I disappointed that I am sorry,” he said Tuesday at a news conference at his old club, Dinamo Bucharest.

Chelsea terminated his contract after he tested positive for cocaine.
